This week on Womanity-Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to Professor Fiona Tregenna who holds the DST/NRF South African Research Chair in Industrial Development, and is a Professor of Economics at the University of Johannesburg. Professor Tregenna shares how her commitment to social justice stemming from early activism and interest in politics motivated her to pursue her studies in economics with real world implications. Prof. Tregenna reminds us that structuring of fiscal budgets and prioritizing gender mainstreaming within government departments across local and national spheres is one mechanism that can help accelerate change towards gender equality for faster gains.
