This week we talk to Professor Dianne Manning, Deputy Dean for Education in the Faculty of Health Science at the University of Pretoria. We discuss some of the demographic changes that have transformed the composition of health science graduates with a notable bias in favour of women as an outcome of empowerment and not being excluded from opportunities to study disciplines of their choice. We emphasise the contribution of education to build competence and the function of role models to improve women’s economic possibilities.
