Head of Undergraduate Students – Department of Psychology at University of Witwatersrand – Dr Daleen Alexander

This week on Womanity-Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to Dr Daleen Alexander, who heads up undergraduate studies at the Department of Psychology, School of Human and Community Development, University of the Witwatersrand. Dr Alexander has a dual career as an academic and practitioner in psychology with specific interests on the impact of gender on people’s career trajectories as well as career conflict experienced by women from diversity backgrounds. We unpack some of the psychological aspects that hinder women’s career progress, such as socialisation that perpetuates gender role stereotypes; real as well as perceived biases; and poor self-efficacy.
