High Commissioner of Botswana to South Africa Tshenolo Modise

This week on Womanity-Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to the High Commissioner of Botswana to South Africa Tshenolo Modise. We discuss some of the gender challenges experienced by female diplomats and the balancing act that many professional women experience as they juggle their work and home commitments. We discuss the impact that the Botswana women’s movement in 1986 had on opening opportunities for women to pursue careers of their choosing, even in fields that were previously dominated by men, such as politics, the priesthood and becoming tribal chiefs. We emphasise the role of education not only as an enabling tool for the empowerment of women, but also to shift traditional mindsets to accept women as equals in all walks of life. Tune in for more.
