This week we talk to the Ambassador of Turkey to South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho – Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen. We discuss some of the responsibilities in her current role, at political, cultural and trade levels; as well as Turkey’s focus on Africa and its philosophy to support African solutions for African problems. We consider the positive effects of gender legislation to close gender gaps and drive equality. We remark on the role that women have played in society in pursuit of democracy and upholding political freedoms. We acknowledge that women are multi-faceted, capable of adopting several roles simultaneously i.e. mother, wife, business women etc…and are adept at multi-tasking. Tune in for more
