South Africa’s Ambassador to Madagascar – Maud Vuyelwa Dlomo

This week on Womanity – Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to South Africa’s Ambassador to Madagascar, Ms Maud Vuyelwa Dlomo. We discuss some of the highlights in her early career with the Department of International Relations, such as integrating and re-educating diplomats in 1994 to serve in a new democratic South Africa; introducing young cadets into the talent pipeline as enthusiastic agents of change, with fresh perspectives to represent the country; and starting a programme for women in peace and security – remarking on the importance of establishing peaceful, stable, conflict free, environments to attract investors. Ambassador Dlomo shares some of the cultural difference exhibited by different countries, particularly elements that infringe on women’s rights and inhibit their development. She mentions an example of a project that young Malagasy women have undertaken which tackles issues of political identity, as well as economic development and the role of women contributing to their country. Ambassador Dlomo reminds us that women stand better together, as a united front and that this is our time, the future is bright. Tune in for more…
