Pan African Parliament Member and Member of Parliament The Gambia: Fatou K. Jawara

This week on Womanity – Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to Pan African Parliament member and Member of Parliament of The Gambia, Fatou K. Jawara. In The Gambia she serves on the following committees: gender, health, women, children, disaster, humanitarian relief, defence and security, as well as the independent electoral commission’s ombudsman. Some of her focal areas in relation to women encompass: supporting female farmers, striving for gender parity, increasing the representation of women across the spectrum – targeting 30%, and overcoming outdated thinking that relegates women to care giving roles.
