High Commissioner of Kenya: Catherine Muigai Mwangi

This week on Womanity-Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to the High Commissioner of Kenya to South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, Catherine Muigai Mwangi. Some of her previous appointments include Ambassadorships in Ethiopia, Djibouti and Ireland. She has also served as permanent representative to the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. We reflect on some of her career landmarks, such as chairing the Africa Ireland – Economic Forum to grow economic activity between Africa and Ireland; and whilst serving as a permanent representative to the African Union actively promoting freedom of movement – people, finance and goods within the continent. We discuss some of Kenya’s trailblazers, like Wangari Maathai. We note the need for women to pursue positions of power and highlight some of the issues confronting women in the political sphere.
