UN Under-Secretary-General Sexual Violence in Conflict: Zainab Hawa Bangura

In our second episode on the 25th AU Summit, we speak to Mrs Zainab Hawa Bangura, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict and former Minister of Health and Sanitation as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone. We discuss some of the highlights in her career, particularly the work in her current position to combat sexual violence against women in conflict countries. We address the importance of progressive men occupying leadership positions, who are supportive of empowering women by driving both policy reform and cultural shifts.
