Minister of Gender and Child Development for Zambia: Prof. Nkandu Luo

In our fourth episode on the 25th AU Summit, we speak to Prof. Nkandu Luo: Minister of Gender and Child Development for Zambia. Her previous ministerial posts include: Chiefs and Traditional Affairs; and Local Government and Housing Trade. We discuss various campaigns that she has launched to promote women’s development in Zambia as well as recondition gender perspectives through high impact initiatives. These include: mentorship programmes for women in the workplace, linking young women to businesses, the launch of a women’s bank, promoting financial management and up-skilling women etc… We discuss the need for a paradigm shift, for women to start thinking big and outside the box to take advantage of accessible resources and assert their economic independence.
