Minister of Gender for Tanzania: Sofia Simba

This week we are joined by Sofia Simba, Tanzania’s Minister of Community Development, Gender and Children. We discuss the fact that governments across the African continent generally have good polices with respect to women, but challenges of underfunding negatively impact on resource availability and the implementation of policies. We acknowledge that the African Union has made agri-businesses a focal point amongst women and is putting in place mechanisms for mechanised development for farming practices. However, for women to succeed commercially, greater access to financial resources is necessary.
