Bongiwe Msomi, Vice-captain of the SPAR Proteas SA National Netball Team

This week we talk to Bongiwe Msomi, Vice-captain of South Africa’s ladies national netball team. She shares some of her experiences as an international sportswoman representing South Africa. We discuss personal attributes of dedication, passion and perseverance on an internal level and on external level some of the robust support structures that contribute to building successful sporting careers. Bongiwe reflects on serving as a role model to inspire other young women and encourage them to pursue their goals. We remark on the need for women in sport to receive greater recognition for their contributions to help elevate the status of women’s sports and raise its appeal amongst a broader public.
