This week on Womanity – Women in Unity, Dr. Amaleya Goneos-Malka talks to Ms. Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi, who is a Member of Parliament and Deputy Secretary General of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Our discussion highlights patriarchy and inequality as prominent barriers to women’s progress. We unpack education as a tool to overcome oppressive cultural practices and as a means for women to attain economic empowerment. We speak about some of the political structures, like the Women’s Multiparty Caucus, that aim to unify women across parties to focus on the agendas of women and thereby drive change.
