Miss South Africa 2017 – Demi-Leigh Nel Peters

This week we talk to reigning Miss SA 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel Peters about the pageant, how it has impacted on her life and some of the responsibilities that come with being Miss SA. We discuss some of the women’s empowerment work Demi is involved with, from Cell C’s Take A Girl Child to Work programme, which other country delegates, the likes of Miss Botswana and Miss Namibia, have adopted for their home countries, to Demi’s own forthcoming “unbreakable” initiative aimed to help women and girls stand up for themselves, protect themselves and be respected. We consider women in leadership, acknowledging that the right decision may not be the popular choice, and for female leaders to be courageous and speak up for people who may not have a voice to do so.
