This week we talk to Zolani Mahola lead singer of Freshlyground. We review some of the landmarks in her musical career and the reflective nature of musicians’ work, which tends to mirror social, political and cultural experiences. We acknowledge that patriarchal beliefs affect the way some men perceive women and as a result may hinder women’s progress; these issues need to be confronted to change perspectives.
