This week we are joined by multi-award winning South African musician Thandiswa Mazwai. We discuss some of her experiences straddling old South Africa with new South Africa and their influence, together with other elements, on her work and the process of developing her unique sound.
We reflect on the importance of women becoming more assertive in their careers by transitioning from a tendency to occupy background positions to foreground roles. We remark that through increasing the visibility of empowered women other women are encouraged to empower themselves.
