This week we speak to award winning South African actress, producer and director Moshidi Motshegwa. We discuss her journey to success, from discovering her calling for acting at a young age to continuously nurturing her talents. We consider some of the elements required to help women navigate their careers and overcome resistance in male dominated environments and the importance of lifelong learning to remain relevant in your profession. We contemplate the persistence of gender discrimination and acts of violence against women, in spite of the rights women have been afforded through enabling legislation, and review the role of society with regard to raising children to respect one another – irrespective of gender.
