Editor Marie Claire: Jackie May

This week we talk to Ms Jackie May, the editor of Marie Claire magazine, which celebrates 20 years of publishing in South Africa this year. We discuss some of the responsibilities that come with an editor’s portfolio, including being primary caretaker of the brand and custodian of the content disseminated across its multiple platforms. We consider some of the positive dynamics for women working in predominately female environments and companies that are run by women. We highlight some of the factors that still hinder women’s progress in the work space that need to be overcome, such as equal pay, fostering greater confidence and utilising legislation to protect their rights and interests if they feel affronted.
