Motivation: Factors of Success

Welcome to Womanity Women in Unity, this episode reflects on a few factors of success, as experienced by some of this year’s guests, who are global and local leaders. The Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland grew up with the philosophy that God bestows talent upon every individual, but it’s up to us to find it, hone it and use it for the benefit of others; and never be afraid to try. The former CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Nicky Newton-King reflects on family values and a sense of social justice as constructs of her path to success. The CEO of BP Southern Africa Taelo Mojapelo tells us that her three key drivers of success are authenticity, courage and humility. The Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs of Sierra Leone Manti Tarawalli recalls the influence of strong independent family matriarchs and faith as sources of her success. The High Commissioner of Kenya Catherine Muigai Mwangi describes how education, possessing a strong work ethic, and following a purpose have contributed to her career.
